PROJECT: Quirk LoPro Pursuit
BUILDER: Quirk Cycles
FINISH: You could say this is simply a white bike with blue logos... and you'd be right to some extent but you wouldn't be acknowledging the epic number of hours of work that has gone into making this sleek finish.
Rob Quirk rose to the challenge set to him by his customer and built a low-profile pursuit frame with curves, contours and gussets and a matching fork. This is where we came in.
The soft, smooth and edgeless swaged transitions between the tubes and the gussets were created at Cole Coatings Workshop through an exhaustive and painstaking process of applying and hand-sculpting flexible automotive grade body filler. The results speak for themselves; each of these junctions between the tubes and fins appears to have grown as one and always been that way.
The paint was never going to be anything too wild here, after all, the bike itself is already a feat of skill. The customer opted for a plain, flat, white blank canvas and a dusting of Tropical Glitz Interstellar pearl blue throughout to add just a little dynamism to the curves. The single Quirk logo and Columbus branding are picked out in a metallic blue.
The efforts involved in this build were rewarded with the Reynolds Technical Excellence Award at Bespoked 2018.
